A wide range of services are available at BACC including personal support to those who need it. BACC is committed to offer the best services that will meet each individual needs. The organisation is aware of the complexities of different African cultures, traditions and experiences and thus it has developed an open mindset and is always ready to extend to all those who require its services without favour or discrimination of any persons or groups over others.
In October 2008, BACC launched the "Supporting African Children Towards a Brighter Future", an International Project, for the main purpose of fulfilling its objective of relieving the suffering of people in the African Sub-Saharan countries who are in need, hardship or distress and assist in the recovery of those who are sick, convalescent, disabled or infirm.
Since children are the future, they deserve to access to good education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation and protection for a brighter future. Without this, their future remains bleak. The main objective of the project is to work in partnership with existing local organisations in Africa to ensure that better services are provided and children are able to access these services.
Since 2006, BACC has embarked on a second objective to work overseas in sub-Saharan African Countries in partnership with local organisations to advance education and human rights of people from Black and minority ethnic groups and to relieve the suffering of people in African sub-Saharan countries.
In 2006, we worked in partnership with the Association AKUNGU-ONGD in Kinshasa, DR Congo in training 11 young people to acquire vocational skills in building and capentry work. We also initiated jointly some agricultural projects with Rural Women in Bita Village, a rural zone of Kinshasa Province, DR Congo. We successfully trained women to plant sweet potatoes and maize.
In 2008, we launched a fundraising project for International fundraising. We were able to raise money to provide school books, reading and writing materials to children in Weta Village School, in Maniema province of DR Congo. Some of the money raised was used for the restoration of the school which was destroyed during a decade of civil war in Congo.
In 2009, BACC in partnership with African and other women in Luton and Mrs. Charlotte Akonga led a campaign against sexual violence and abuse of women in the North and South Kivu provinces in the Eastern Region of DR Congo. The money raised through this campaign was donated to the Catholic Fund for Overseas Development (CAFOD) to help support victims of female violence.
in October 2009, BACC commissioned Mr. Shamalo to carry out consultaions with local communities, community leaders and agencies to identify the needs of the local community in Kinshasa. The aim of the mission was to research the needs, consultant planning and develop international projects in Congo.
DR Congo is a focal point for BACC because of its war-torn history. The country has endured civil war for more than a decade and basic infrastructure has been destroyed as a result. This has left the population abject poverty. A recent survey has shown that 90% of the people, comprising mainly women and children, live in poverty.
BACC's main objective in DR Congo is to promote education by helping children access basic education, health care and a decent social life. We also aim to provide a source of livelihood through training, community development projects, access to funds or micro credits to start a business and helping people economically independent, especially widows and orphaned families. With respect to this objective, BACC in collaboration with Mrs. Akonga have been supporing widows and orphans of the Foundation THABITA in Kinsuka, a deprived area in the suburb of Kinshasa town in Congo.
